Best Co-Working Spaces on Miami Beach

If you are small business owner or sole practitioner on Miami Beach one of your common issues outside of finding your next client or customer is finding office space. If you have outgrown your home office or are just looking for your own office space, a coworking space might be a great option for you.
Coworking is a relatively new concept in the United States. In a typical work environment, all of a company's employees are housed in a dedicated location and sit next to each other in cubicles and offices. In a coworking space there is no single employer. Each of the tenants in a coworking space typically work for different organizations.
While coworking is new to the United States, it is growing fast. Multiple studies show that the number of coworking spaces have roughly doubled each year since 2006. If you have leased office space in the past, you know it can be pretty complicated. From multiple year commitments to responsibilities for utilities and trade fixtures, there is a good deal of overhead associated with leasing your own office space. Coworking spaces remove those complexities.
In a coworking space you are responsible only for the space you rent. If you are interested in renting a desk, you are only charged for that desk. If you want a dedicated office, you are only charged for your dedicated office space. No need to lease a copying machine, the coworking space will charge you by the page.
Coworking spaces typically offer memberships. Based upon the membership you are given access to different services. Typically the memberships are divided by the type of office space you are renting. For example, some coworking spaces will offer a flexible desk. A flexible desk is a non dedicated work space. Think space in a library that you are paying for. When you come in for work you find an available space and sit there for the day. The next day you might sit in a different location.
Memberships then increase in price from flexible desk to dedicated desk and then to different types of offices. Have a few employees? Don’t worry, you can still consider coworking spaces. Most coworking spaces have dedicated office spaces capable of handling between 2 to 10 employees, depending upon availability.
There are also coworking spaces created to foster collaborative forces within industries. For example, there are some coworking spaces that will only accept tenants that are working within a certain industry.
While it is a cool concept and may create some interesting opportunities for tenants of these “industry focused” coworking locations, there are not currently any of these coworking locations on Miami Beach, so you do not have to worry about applying for acceptance to any of the following coworking spaces.
The best part about co working spaces is the flexibility. Most will have some type of minimum stay or deposit required, but no where near as scary as the terms required for traditional office space.
Buro South Beach
Location: Sunset Harbour
Address: 1815 Purdy Ave - Miami Beach, Fl 33139
Buro South Beach is a coworking space located above Sardinia in the Sunset Harbour neighborhood of Miami Beach. Buro offers flexible desks starting at $249 / month all the way up to office suites for “teams of different sizes.”
Full disclosure, this article is currently being written from Buro, so it is pretty clear my preference for coworking spaces in Miami Beach. You should still tour all of the available options as like most things in life, there is no one size fits all.
What personally drew me to Buro was the professional setting. Most of the members of this coworking space are here to work. Networking and accidental collisions are secondary to actually getting your work done in this location.
Availability changes on a monthly basis so if you are interested in taking a look head over to their website and submit a request to tour.
If I was in a different position in my career, or had less staff I might opt for a coworking space that offers more in the way of networking opportunities.
Buro Alton Road
Location: South Beach
Address: 929 Alton Road - Miami Beach, Fl 33139
Pricing at this location is the same as their Sunset Harbor location. This co-working space is must larger and newer. If you prefer to stay in South Beach, this location is your best bet.
Momentum Business Center
Location: Lincoln Road Mall
Address: 1680 Michigan Ave - Miami Beach, Fl 33139
Momentum Business Center has been around since before virtual offices transitioned to coworking spaces. The location is right off Lincoln Rd and offers access to all of the benefits associated with that proximity to the World’s Largest Outdoor Mall.
Similar to the other coworking locations in Miami Beach there are different membership options available at Momentum Business Center. Starting at a workstation and moving your way up to private window suites.
A testament to the location and the service, there are rarely available spaces here. Best to give them a call or submit a web request to setup a tour.
Industrious at Miami Beach
Location: Lincoln Road Mall
Address: 350 Lincoln Rd - Miami Beach, Fl 33139
This spot is located at the end of Lincoln Road, closest to the oceanfront. This space was previously occupied by WeWork. The build out is great. Industrious also has multiple locations around Miami. So if you are ever off the beach and need a spot to work, you can stop in at another one of their locations.

Regus
Location: Lincoln Rd Mall
Address: 1688 Meridian Ave - Miami Beach, Fl 33139
If WeWork is the cool kid, in the coworking space, Regus is the original player in the field that was quickly overtaken by the new upstart and had to completely revamp their business model. Regus’ reach remains impressive, with over 3,000 locations in 120 countries.
They were the largest players in the space, and got started back when it was called a “virtual office.” There is not much of a difference between a virtual office and a coworking space. In my experience, Regus’ contracts are a bit more nefarious than the modern coworking spaces. I would guess there contracts have eased as competition has increased from these modern coworking spaces.
In terms of professionalism, Regus ranks highest on the list of all coworking spaces on Miami Beach. Their office spaces are professionally decorated. No murals or free flowing beer, Regus spaces are all about working.
If you are an accountant or lawyer that needs to present a professional image, Regus maybe a better fit than the other coworking spaces listed. You can request a tour here.
Spaces at Lincoln Road
Location: Lincoln Road Mall
Address: 1111 Licoln Road - Miami Beach, Fl 33139
Spaces offers a coworking membership for as little as $119 per month, if you only want a few days a month. It's a pretty cool option to test the concept of having your own office.
Like most of the spaces on this list, they have mulitple locations through out South Florida. Check out their website here.
